New Jersey Transit Bus Driver Allegedly Caught Reading While Driving

WAYNE, N.J., July 9 (UPI) —
A commuter in New Jersey allegedly caught a bus driver reading behind the wheel while driving more than 40 passengers on Tuesday morning along Route 80 in Wayne.

The reading and driving allegedly occurred for about 10 minutes while the New Jersey Transit bus driver negotiated stop-and-go traffic.

According to the commuter, the driver, who was operating the 324 bus between the Wayne Park and Ride and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC, started off with a pamphlet and went from there.

The commuter told the station that once the traffic cleared out, the driver ditched the book and focused on the road.

It is not clear what that “swift and appropriate action” will be.
