The Black Lives Matter protesters advocated for violence against police officers at the Minnesota State Fair on Saturday, just one day after a sheriff in Houston, Texas was murdered by a black man. The group chanted, “Pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon.”

GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson didn’t react to the recent video of the chant, which was posted on Twitter, but his spokesperson Deana Bass directed Breitbart News to an op-ed Carson wrote last Monday addressing the Black Lives Matter protesters and calling attention to issues plaguing the black community, stressing that the problems weren’t caused by unjust treatment from police.

“The ‘BlackLivesMatter’ movement is focused on the wrong targets, to the detriment of blacks who would like to see real change,” Carson began.

Carson added:

Of course, the protesters are right that racial policing issues exist and some rotten policemen took actions that killed innocent people. Those actions were inexcusable and they should be prosecuted to deter such acts in the future.

But unjust treatment from police did not fill our inner cities with people who face growing hopelessness. Young men and women can’t find jobs. Parents don’t have the skills to compete in a modern job market…
