Comedy Central's 'Key & Peele' Still Defending Obama

The comedians hosting Comedy Central’s new series “Key & Peele” spent some of their debut season defending President Obama from both his detractors and the ugly realities of the Commander in Chief’s first term.

Remember when comedians took it as their unofficial duty to mock the current White House occupant? Me neither.

“Key & Peele” may be in reruns, but the show’s hosts are still protecting the president via Twitter.

The Obama Translated Twitter page is an off-shoot of the character Keegan-Michael Key plays on both the web and the Comedy Central sketch show. Luther (Key) is Obama’s right hand man, giving voice to the more passionate feelings the president has but can’t say for polite reasons.

It takes a fake meme – that Obama is so cool he can’t get angry – and uses it to spin away all the divisive rhetoric and ugly economic numbers that are the hallmark of the Obama era.

This week, Obama Translated let loose on Mitt Romney with a profanity-laced tirade, ignored how much Obama spent in the 2008 campaign and did its best to make the recent unemployment numbers look palatable.
