Feminist Lena Dunham Shamed for Trying to Cast Dancers Without Pay

Lena Dunham, who has a brand new book titled Not That Kind of Girl, was called out after she tried to cast dancers to work for free during her upcoming book tour, that had already grossed more than $300,000.

Dunham announced on her website recently that she planned to screen new talent for her “Ambitious” tour. The Ask Lena web series star received around 600 video submissions, which she apparently watched in bed, and she was able to select seven not-so-lucky performers.

According to Dunham, some of the auditions were “disturbing,” but the others were “super awesome.” Dunham apparently had no intentions of paying the talent until she was put in the hot seat by a watcdog, whom she later referred to as a “gawker.”

The comedian reportedly makes an estimated $6 million annually, received a book advance of $3.7 million, and sold 8,000 tickets for her tour, yet she could not afford to compensate her workers.

Dunham has since tried to make amends, because she knows that she’s “Not That Kind of Girl.”
