Mark Ruffalo: If You Don’t Like Feminism, ‘Kiss My Ass’

Avengers actor Mark Ruffalo says those who do not identify themselves as feminists are “ignorant little jerks.”

Ruffalo presented an argument on his Tumblr page in March, titled “My response to the ‘I am not a feminist’ internet phenomenon,” and it has just begun to circulate online.

“First of all, it’s clear you don’t know what feminism is. But I’m not going to explain it to you. You can google it. To quote an old friend, ‘I’m not your feminist babysitter,” he began.

Ruffalo argues in the post that it is a slap in the face to the victims of rape and suffrage pioneers when people disregard the equal-rights movement.

“You’re insulting every woman who was forcibly restrained in a jail cell with a feeding tube down her throat for your right to vote, less than 100 years ago,” he said.

“You’re undermining every woman who fought to make marital rape a crime (it was legal until 1993),” he continued.

This is not the first time Ruffalo has spoken out against critics of feminism.

In 2013, he penned an open letter that detailed how his mother was forced to have an illegal abortion, which showed women were considered second class citizens, he said.

His latest post concludes, “In short, kiss my ass you ignorant little jerks.”
