The U.S. Park Police Chief Teresa Chambers was furloughed tweeted AP reporter Eric Tucker on Wednesday night :
The chief of the US Park Police is among the ranks of the furloughed. Says email to her will go unread for as long as she’s out if work.

Chambers led the Durham, N.C. Police force from 1998 to 2001 and later became chief of the U. S. Park Police, an agency that has jurisdiction over all of Washington D.C., and shares law enforcement responsibilities with the Metropolitan D.C. Police.
