Father Fatally Run Over by Suspected Drunk Daughter

A Father’s Day weekend tragedy unfolded when a Riverside County man was allegedly run over and killed by his drunk daughter, as he was trying to deter her from driving her car while she was under the influence of alcohol.

According to NBC4 Southern California, witnesses of the incident informed police that 37-year-old Soukvilay Barton had been suspected of drinking and arguing with family members in the early evening on Friday at their home in Riverside.

According to police, after allegedly leaving the house drunk and disconcerted, Barton got in her BMW Z series convertible, which was parked in the garage. Her father, Bounmy Rajsombath, 69, stood behind the vehicle and tried to persuade his daughter not to drive, but she backed up anyway and hit him in the driveway. The police further reported that Barton stopped her car after noticing her father was seriously injured. Although her father was taken to the Riverside Community Hospital, he later died from his injuries.

According to NBC 4, Barton was taken away in handcuffs and faces charges of felony gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and drunken driving causing great bodily injury. Meanwhile, local residents were aghast at the incident, especially as it occurred only two days before Father’s Day, and considering that their neighbors “seemed like such a nice family with no domestic problems.”
