#OccupySantaCruz Takes Over Private Building, Police Refuse To Confront

Demonstrators have no plans to leave a former bank building where an estimated 20 to 30 demonstrators broke in Wednesday evening, amid growing anger from some in the community. Police said protestors threw at least one wood-and-metal traffic barricade into the San Lorenzo River and threw orange cones at passing cars during the rally.

“I don’t think it’s that we have the right to (take over the property,) it’s that we have the ability to do it,” said Desiree Foster of Occupy Santa Cruz.

Police turned away, rather than confront protesters at the occupied building in Santa Cruz.
