Wednesday night on Newsmax TV’s “Newsmax Prime,” Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said liberals in San Francisco who don’t communicate with federal immigration officials due to sanctuary city policies “have blood on their hand” for the alleged murder of 32-year-old Kate Steinle by five-time deportee Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez.
King said, “Sanctuary cities exist because of the left, because of the open border policy. Yes, there is blood on their hands and San Francisco is at fault. All of California is a sanctuary state today, and many states have these jurisdictions like this.”
Discussing a positive outcome of the recent controversy swirling around Republican presidential candidate Donald Trumps Mexican criminal comments King said his amendment to the Commerce Justice Appropriations bill blocking federal funds to sanctuary cities has a better chance of passing explaining, “We’ve got an opportunity to hold that language because of Donald Trump and because of this national crisis.”
