Fiorina: ‘Odd’ Cruz Didn’t Renounce Dual Citizenship Until 2014, Cruz Says One Thing In NY, Another In IA

Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said that she finds it “odd” that fellow candidate Ted Cruz didn’t renounce his dual citizenship until 2014, and that Cruz “says one thing in the drawing rooms of Manhattan, and another thing in the living rooms of Iowa” on Thursday’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” on the Fox News Channel.

Fiorina stated, [relevant remarks begin around 3:20] “Well, I don’t know all the particulars, but I would say this, I find it odd that Senator Ted Cruz did not renounce his dual Canadian citizenship until 2014, when it became clear he was running for president.”

She added that Cruz should be asked about not renouncing his dual citizenship until 2014. Fiorina continued, “clearly, there are both legal scholars, and others who think this is, perhaps, a legitimate issue. My issue is, that I think both Donald Trump, and Ted Cruz, are far too divisive as candidates to ever beat Hillary Clinton. I’m a conservative who can beat Hillary Clinton, who won’t sacrifice our principles, but [who will] explain our principles to the American people. I don’t think you can have someone win who insults everyone routinely, and I also don’t think you can win, when you have someone, like Senator Cruz, who says one thing in the drawing rooms of Manhattan, and another thing in the living rooms of Iowa. That’s kind of what politicians do. They say what they need to say to get elected, and then they do whatever they please.”
