On Saturday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Kristian Saucier, a former US Navy sailor pardoned for taking photos of classified areas of a nuclear submarine by President Trump, stated the case “was a clear attempt by the Department of Justice, you know, under Obama to use me as a scapegoat to take the heat off Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified information.”
Saucier said, “We’re very grateful to the president for following through with his promise to help our family out. He’s an amazing man, and this is just one of the many great things that he’s done in his term.”
He later added, “I still love this country. It’s still the greatest country in the world, and I believe President Trump’s taking it back to that place where it needs to be. But, you know, it’s unfortunate that one prosecutor and a couple FBI agents really just destroyed my life for no reason. This case could have been handled at a much lower level within the military, as it should have been. Because I was active duty at the time, and I would have taken my punishment the same way, like a man.”
Saucier concluded, “I made a mistake when I was a young kid. It was a misguided attempt to have some mementos, and it should have never reached the level that it did and I believe President Trump saw that, and that’s why he spoke about my case. Because it was a clear attempt by the Department of Justice, you know, under Obama, to use me as a scapegoat to take the heat off Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified information. You know, like I said, I still have faith in the system, and that’s exactly the reason why I maintained the above board thing. I served my time. I didn’t cause any issues in prison. I did my time the right way. I took my punishment like a man, and I got out, and I did my best to be a contributing member of society. As soon as I could, I got a job, and I was very fortunate to be hired by the only company that would give me a second chance, a local waste management company, TAM.”
