Dem Sen. Peters: ‘Our Allies Don’t Seem to Trust this Administration’

During Sunday’s “Kasie DC” on MSNBC, Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI) weighed in on the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.

Peters warned about Iran’s activities considering they have a nuclear weapon.

“Certainly, Iran is a nation we have to be very concerned about,” Peters advised. “Their activities throughout the Middle East are very destabilizing. Having a nuclear weapon, the Iranians having a nuclear weapon is simply unacceptable. That’s why we entered into those negotiations, and we did it with our allies. That’s the other thing that really befuddles me. … We are strong and we’re strong in dealing with the Iranian situation when we do it with our allies.”

The Michigan Democrat then added the United States’ allies “don’t seem to trust” the President Donald Trump administration, which he said is not willing to work with its allies.

He stated, “Our allies don’t seem to trust this administration. The administration is doing nothing to strengthen the kinds of allies that we need in order to stand up against Iranian aggression. This shows a rudderless administration, no leadership at the Department of Defense, no strategic plan and an inability to work with allies on common interest.”
