Left-Wing 'Onion' Ceases Print Publication in DC, Philly

Obviously, no one is going to point to the elephant in the room, most especially the hopelessly left-wing BuzzFeed Politics, but due to their unwillingness to go after Obama and Democrats with the same sharp satire it uses against Republicans, “The Onion” just isn’t what it was.

For a time, “The Onion” was a brilliantly funny equal opportunity offender, but over the past few years a noticeable shift toward the left and political correctness has infected its pages and therefore the quality of the writing in general.

When “The Onion,” of all things, can’t find anything funny about the most powerful man in the world, it’s game over. And as you’ll read below, the print edition is the least of their problems.

BuzzFeed Politics:

Bad news for parody-lovers: the print edition of The Onion has ceased distribution in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, the company confirmed to BuzzFeed.

“The business model we had set up in these places didn’t wield the results we were looking for, which was sustainability,” said spokeswoman Anne Finn.

The free weekly started its first D.C. run in April 2007, and Finn said distribution in Philadelphia began in May 2011.

The news comes at a rocky time for the company. The Atlantic Wire reported Thursday that all but a handful of the paper’s comedy writers are quitting rather than endure relocation to Chicago in July, the latest chapter in an ongoing consolidation effort intended to lower costs. The paper’s corporate headquarters is located in the Second City.

If you look at the state of humor today, it’s in pretty bad shape overall. This neo-fascism called political correctness has made so many issues off-limits that comedians really only have a few choices anymore when it comes to the topics they choose.

You can either mock Republicans or tell sex jokes. Other than that…
