Desperation: Dems Look to Connect Bat Villain Bane to Romney, Bain Capital

Hope and Change has morphed into Hail Mary Passes and Sheer Desperation in just four short years.

The Democrats fully understand they can’t run on President Barack Obama’s abysmal record this Fall, so they’re throwing much of their weight – and resources – behind fact-free assaults on Mitt Romney’s tenure at Bain Capital.

The whole line of attack has been debunked even by left-leaning outlets like The Washington Post and PolitiFact, but the Left keeps playing the Bain Card. This week, Democrats will deal a new Bane Card into the deck.

“The Dark Knight Rises,” the hugely anticipated Batman film hitting theaters Friday, features the Caped Crusader battling the villainous Bain. And Democrats are already licking their chops at the chance to make the Bane/Bain connection.

Get it?

“It has been observed that movies can reflect the national mood,” said Democratic advisor and former Clinton aide Christopher Lehane. “Whether it is spelled Bain and being put out by the Obama campaign or Bane and being out by Hollywood, the narratives are similar: a highly intelligent villain with offshore interests and a past both are seeking to cover up who had a powerful father and is set on pillaging society,” he added.

The joke may be on the Democrats, though.

The last Bat film, “The Dark Knight,” featured themes that aligned with President George W. Bush’s aggressive War on Terror. And the new film touches on the Occupy Wall Street movement in ways Big Hollywood understands may be more music to conservatives’ ears.
