They say politics make strange bedfellows, and perhaps no movie proves that more right now than a documentary called “Death by China.”
Written and directed by Peter Navarro, a University of California-Irvine professor who based the film on his book of the same name, “Death” paints an unflinchingly dire picture of the many risks America faces at the hands of China.
One might expect a doc like that to be narrated by a conservative – but surprisingly that’s not the case here. Instead, outspoken progressive Martin Sheen is the voice of warning, and the fact that one of America’s most notorious liberals is lending his talents to a cause like this underscores just how badly things are heading for us.
Navarro shows that China’s in it for the long haul and can ultimately take America down without firing a shot. Ever since President Clinton touted the “need” for China to be welcomed into the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001 and a Republican Congress led by Tom DeLay did nothing to stop it, China’s enjoyed all of the benefits of WTO membership and drastically easier trade with the West while exploiting our weak spots in every way they can: through exploitively cheap labor, horrendous human rights violations, nearly zero environmental regulations and even such devious tactics as currency manipulation.
Meanwhile, all their unfairly gained profits are being poured into military expansion so extreme that they could one day overwhelm us regardless of President Obama’s desire for defense budget cuts.
Unfortunately, “Death” is only being played in extremely limited theatrical release, though it is available in Video On Demand (VOD) in most national cable systems and will soon be available on DVD. But don’t take my word for it – tune in to this episode of my www.radiotitans.com web-radio station show “Kozversations,” where I interview Navarro for a half-hour about the threat from China, and what can be done to fight back.
The second half-hour of the episode has an interview with Paul Kengor, about his article on Obama advisor David Axelrod’s highly suspect history of ties to Communists and other radicals at nearly every level of his career rise.
Both these interviews are must-listens for anyone who cares about where our country is heading. For all these interviews, use this link and then pick the individual shows you’re interested in hearing.
