Hollywood Rallies for Gay Marriage as SCOTUS Considers Prop 8

Hollywood celebrities are rallying today on behalf of same-sex marriage, with one famous director using his wallet to help him get to the front of the line.

Some changed their Twitter photos to an “equal” symbol to represent their hope that the Supreme Court hearing this afternoon would leave to the permanent end of Proposition 8 in California. The measure, recently struck down by a federal appeals court, reaffirms marriage as an institution between one man and one woman.

Other celebrities, like actor/director Rob Reiner, bought their way to see the legal exchange.

In addition, Huffington Post reports that Rob Reiner, who sits on the board of the American Foundation for Equal Rights, was first in line to enter the court; he reportedly paid someone to save his spot. Such “tickets” were commanding up to $6000 according to reports early Tuesday.

Among those Tweeting their support for gay marriage include actors Ben Affleck, Jake Johnson (New Girl), Evan Rachel Wood, Russell Simmons, Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family) and Mia Farrow.
