Bruce Jenner to Judge Miss USA Pageant?

This year’s Miss USA pageant will air July 12 on NBC, and the judge’s panel might have a new celebrity guest: Bruce Jenner.

According to Page Six, the Miss USA Pageant has made the 65-year-old trans woman an offer to be a judge at this year’s event. If he accepts the offer, Jenner would be tasked with helping to narrow down the top 15 contestants.

A representative for the Miss USA organization confirmed to USA Today Saturday the former Olympian has been offered a gig as a judge. “While she is not yet confirmed to judge, the organization would indeed love to have her and are reaching out to make an offer,” the organization said.

The Miss USA rep also added the Miss Universe system is the only pageant system that accepts transgender contestants.

Financial compensation for a possible Jenner position has not been discussed, and Jenner would not be the first member of reality TV’s first family to serve as a judge for the pageant.

Rob Kardashian, Jenner’s stepson, sat on the panel as a judge in 2012 and asked eventual winner Olivia Culpo a question about transgender contestants. “Would you feel it would be fair that a transgender woman wins the Miss USA title over a natural-born woman?” Kardashian asked.

Culpo responded saying she felt it would be “fair,” adding, “It’s a free country.”

USA Today reported earlier this week it took two years for Jenner to pick his new name, and in the end, it was the Miss America pageant that helped make the final decision.

Jenner has not publicly commented on the proposal.

The 2014 Miss USA pageant will air July 12 on NBC at 8 p.m. EST.
