Radical Islamist preacher Anjem Choudary has been granted conditional bail as he awaits trial accused of inviting support for Islamic State via social media.
Mr Choudary pleaded not guilty at the Old Bailey alongside co-accused Mohammed Rahman of Whitechapel, East London, who also denied a similar charge.
He has spent the last two weeks in custody after breaching the terms of his bail by meeting a person he was “precluded from contacting”. He will now remain in custody until the court receives a £15,000 surety.
The Evening Standard reports that his bail has 10 conditions, including wearing an electronic tag, curfew from 9pm to 7am and not meeting with certain individuals. He is also not allowed to possess “any internet enabling device”, nor can he travel abroad or organise demonstrations.
There will be a preparatory hearing at London’s Old Bailey court on 11 January before a three-week trail begins.
