Porn Mogul's Daughter Wanted For ID Theft, Hit-and-Run

Jasmine Mitchell, daughter of the late San Francisco pornographer Artie Mitchell, is on the run from California police, who say she ran a large-scale identity theft operation and hit a police car as she was trying to evade arrest in an April 29 incident, according to the Contra Costa Times.

After receiving a tip that Mitchell, 33, and second suspect Roy Kim, 34, were at an apartment in San Pablo, police searched the apartment on prior warrants related to identity theft, according to Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Michael Raasch. Police quickly detained three other individuals at the apartment after finding sufficient evidence, but Mitchell and Kim weren’t there.

Reportedly, while police continued searching, Mitchell drove into the apartment’s parking lot in a white Mercedes sedan. When they tried to arrest her, she smashed into an unmarked Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office police car and another parked car and fled the scene. Police provided the white Mercedes’ California license plate number, 5YGV637.

Roy Kim was later found in a taxi in nearby Richmond, and was arrested and booked by Contra Costa County police, according to the report. Apart from his involvement in Mitchell’s ID theft operation, Kim was on parole in Santa Clara County, and was also wanted on charges of possessing stolen property.

Artie Mitchell, Jasmine’s father, and his brother Jim were hugely influential and successful pornography producers in San Francisco in the 1970’s. In addition to producing films, the brothers opened the O’Farrell Theater, a pornographic movie theater, in San Francisco in 1969. Jim shot and killed his brother in Corte Madera in February 1991.
