CA Homeowner Survives Attack, Holds Intruder At Gunpoint Until Police Arrive

On Tuesday, a Castaic homeowner weathered an attack from a home intruder, then retrieved a shotgun and held him at gunpoint until police arrived.

According to ABC 7, the homeowner, 63-year-old Jeff Preach, was at home recovering from back surgery when the doorbell rang around 10:30 p.m. He answered the door only to the have 20-year-old suspect Salvador Medrano allegedly demand “$100 million.” Preach told the suspect he had the wrong house, after which the suspect allegedly “punched Preach in the face.”

The two ended up on the floor in a brawl which woke Preach’s wife. She called 911.

Once Preach got the Medrano pinned to the floor, a guest came out of a bedroom and the held him while Preach retrieved his shotgun. Preach then held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Medrano “on suspicion of robbery” once they arrived.
