(Ferenstein Wire) – During a townhall with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mark Zuckerberg revealed a new historical fact about one of Silicon Valley’s most valued companies.
During Facebook’s early, darker days, when Zuckerberg was fielding buyout offers amidst tough competition, Steve Jobs told him to visit a temple in India, where the Apple co-founder had also experienced life-changing spiritual reflection.
“Having the opportunity to feel how much better the world could be if everyone had a stronger ability to connect, reinforced for me the importance of what we were doing. That’s something I’ve always remembered as we built Facebook,” explained Zuckerberg.
Jobs’ biography recounts the legendary inventor’s extensive world travels and spiritual experimentation. Jobs was such a fan of creative exploration, he once said of his long-time competitor, Bill Gates, “He’d be a broader guy if he had dropped acid once or gone off to an ashram when he was younger.”
Evidently, Zuckerberg followed (at least some) of Jobs’ advice. And, it may have inspired him to make some life-saving decisions for his fledgling company.
