Senator Jon Kyl on Secure Freedom Radio: Kagan, Missile Defense and Border Security

Thursday Senator Jon Kyl– the most strategic thinker in the Senate on America’s nuclear deterrent– spent two segments on Secure Freedom Radio with Frank Gaffney discussing missile defense and Elena Kagan’s embrace of Shariah Finance while serving as Dean of Harvard Law School. Senator Kyl said:

“It is a short step from the whole Shariah Financing concept into deeper reliance on Shariah law, which would be antithetical to everything we in the West and, specifically, in the United States, believe in. But the idea of getting people knowledgeable about Shariah Finance has gained some support from the bankers who’ve never shied away from making money.”

On missile defense, the Arizona Republican makes the obvious (but very politically incorrect) observation that the United States’ nuclear arsenal has made the cost of waging a nuclear war so nightmarish that, in fact, it has saved an untold number of lives. Since the Second World War, nation states are less reluctant to engage in conventional wars– especially when there’s the potential of it escalating to a nuclear exchange. Senator Kyl makes the point that Obama’s goal– denuclearization to “Global Zero”– will undo this deterrent, and leave us more strategically vulnerable.

In addition to the Senator, this edition of Secure Freedom Radio featured Frank’s regular Thursday guest Andy McCarthy, National Review contributor and author of the best-selling The Grand Jihad: How Islam and the Left Subvert America.

Senator Kyl’s segment begins approximately at 13:30.
