GOP Senator: WH Exposed CIA Station Chief Forced Out of Afghanistan

Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) told Breitbart News on Monday that the CIA station chief in Afghanistan revealed to reporters through a White House e-mail is no longer serving at that post.

“It was irresponsible enough to expose him and it’s my understanding that he had to leave,” Portman said. “I don’t know [if he’s out of job], but this is Governing 101. You don’t mess with the station chiefs,” he added.

The Ohio Republican believes the former CIA Station Chief is now in a safe location away from those who want to do him harm. The Obama White House announced almost two weeks ago that an investigation was launched to examine how the name of the CIA’s station chief in Afghanistan was sent to the press during President Barack Obama’s surprise visit to U.S. troops there recently.

White House Counsel Neil Eggleston is reportedly conducting a review of what happened at the request of White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough. “It shouldn’t have happened. We’re trying to understand why it happened,” Deputy National Security Adviser Tony Blinken said on CNN’s Situation Room.
