2 dead, 10 homes buried in Philippine monsoon landslide: govt

Naga (Philippines) (AFP) – At least two people were killed and 10 homes buried early Thursday in the central Philippines when heavy monsoon rains unleashed a landslide in a rural farming community, authorities said.

“We have recovered two bodies and two survivors, both injured,” regional civil defence official Neil Balaba told AFP, referring to the slide in Tina-an village on Cebu island.

“Local rescuers estimate that between 10-15 houses were buried,” he added.
