March 15 (UPI) — Comedian and actor Billy Crystal led a heartfelt Oscars tribute to his long-time friend and collaborator Rob Reiner in Hollywood on Sunday night.

Crystal starred in Reiner’s beloved movies The Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally.

Also taking the stage to honor their fallen friend were Princess cast members Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Fred Savage and Carol Kane, and Crystal’s Sally leading lady Meg Ryan.

Jerry O’Connell, Wil Wheaton, John Cusack and Kiefer Sutherland — who starred in Reiner’s Stand By Me — participated in the solemn moment during Hollywood’s biggest night, along with A Few Good Men co-stars Demi Moore and Kevin Pollock, Misery Oscar winner Kathy Bates, Annette Bening from An American President, Michael McKean and Christopher Guest from This is Spinal Tap, and Daphne Zuniga from The Sure Thing.

Reiner and his wife Michele were stabbed to death in their home, allegedly by their son Nick, late last year.

Nick has pleaded not guilty to double murder charges and is awaiting trial.
