First migrants from Aquarius rescue ship arrive at Spanish port: AFP

Valencia (Spain) (AFP) – The first migrants from the Aquarius rescue boat which was turned away by Italy and Malta, sparking a major migration row in Europe, disembarked Sunday in the Spanish port of Valencia, an AFP reporter at the scene said.

An Italian navy boat, the Dattilo, carrying some of the 630 migrants from the Aquarius, entered the port just before 6:30 am (0430 GMT).

The others will arrive on another Italian navy ship, the Orione, and the Aquarius itself by noon, regional authorities said.
