France’s Macron meets with Syrian Kurdish and Arab fighters: Elysee

Paris (AFP) – French President Emmanuel Macron met Thursday with a delegation of the Syrian Democratic Forces made up of Kurdish and Arab fighters and promised them support from France, the presidency said in a statement.

Macron hopes “a dialogue can be established between the SDF and Turkey with help from France and the international community”, it said.

The meeting comes after a Turkish assault seized the Syrian Kurdish city of Afrin driving out a Kurdish militia that Ankara views as a terrorist group.
