Hulu renews 'The Testaments' for Season 2 ahead of season finale

May 20 (UPI) — Hulu announced Wednesday that it has renewed The Testaments for a second season. The season finale premieres May 27.

Based on Margaret Atwood’s book, the show is also a sequel to Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale adaptation. Chase Infiniti stars as Agnes, a woman who grew up in Gilead.

Agnes is a plum, dressed in purple robes to be mothers of Commanders’ children. Readers also know Agnes has a connection to the original book and series.

Lucy Halliday stars as Daisy, an American who enters Gilead as a spy. She must become a Pearl Girl, wearing white as an outsider.

Ann Dowd returns as Aunt Lydia, transformed by her experiences in Gilead. Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard and more also star.

Bruce Miller again adapted the book and executive produces with Warren Littlefield and Elisabeth Moss. Moss also guest-starred in the first season.

The Testaments has streamed 45 million hours globally and increased viewership from the premiere to episode 8 by 76% according to Hulu and Disney+.
