Sept. 14 (UPI) — Paramount Pictures is teasing the new film Mr. Irrelevant.
The studio shared a trailer for the movie Sunday featuring Superman actor David Corenswet as late New York Giants player John Tuggle.
Mr. Irrelevant is a sports drama about Tuggle, the final pick in the last round of the 1983 NFL draft.
“A true underdog, Tuggle defied expectations on the field and off for his then first-year head coach, Bill Parcells (Michael Shannon), his newfound love (Isabel May), and his team, proving that remarkable hope and perseverance can transcend even the greatest challenges,” an official synopsis reads.
The trailer shows Tuggle (Corenswet) meet his roommate at Giants training camp and hints at his eventual health struggles.
The real-life Tuggle died at age 25 in 1986.
Mr. Irrelevant opens in theaters Dec. 25 on Christmas Day.
Corenswet is best known for playing Clark Kent, aka Superman, in the 2025 film Superman and Supergirl, released in June. He will reprise the DC Comics superhero in Man of Tomorrow, set for release in 2027.
