Feb. 12 (UPI) — Mummy 4, the eagerly awaited action-horror movie with Oscar winners Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, is set for theatrical release on May 19, 2028.
The Universal movie will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who are known professionally as RadioSilence.
“If you asked newbie writer me in 1999 what my dream job would be, I would’ve said THE MUMMY. It took a quarter century, but that dream came true,” screenwriter David Coggeshall wrote on X, alongside a media report about the upcoming project.
Producer James Vanderbilt said in his own post: “So excited to be a part of this! @DavidCoggeshall wrote an amazing script and @HiRadioSilence are going to direct the hell out of it. (Oh and our two Oscar winning leads are back too!)”
Fraser and Weisz played married 20th century adventurers Rick and Evie O’Connell in The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001).
Maria Bello played Evie in 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
