Dec. 22 (UPI) — The NFL is reviewing a physical interaction between Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf and a Detroit Lions fan, a league source told UPI on Monday.
Metcalf shoved the fan during the second quarter of a 29-24 triumph Sunday in Detroit.
He was caught on CBS cameras as he walked to the end of the stands. He then lifted his right arm and grabbed the fan, pulling him down and swatting his hand at him.
Metcalf caught four passes for 42 yards Sunday. The two-time Pro Bowl selection leads the Steelers with 850 yards and six scores on 59 receptions this season.

The fan involved later told the Detroit Free Press that he was “a little rattled” from the incident. The man, who identified himself as Ryan Kennedy, told the outlet he called Metcalf by his full name, which led to the incident.
“I called him that and then he grabbed me and ripped my shirt,” Kennedy said. “I’m a little shocked. Like everyone’s talking to me. I’m a little rattled, but I just want the Lions to win, baby.”
A potential suspension could result in a major impact in the Steelers’ playoff outlook. The Steelers (9-6), who took over the AFC North division lead with Sunday’s win, will meet the Cleveland Browns (3-12) on Sunday in Cleveland.
They will take on the Baltimore Ravens (7-8) in their Week 18 season finale.
