June 28 (UPI) — President Donald Trump was scheduled to give remarks on the manufacturing industry and economy Thursday afternoon at the Foxconn facility in Wisconsin.
He was set to speak at 1:15 p.m. CDT in Mount Pleasant. Before the event, he participated in a groundbreaking for a $10 billion Foxconn factory.
Trump was expected to tout how his economic and trade policies have benefited manufacturing in the United States. Twenty-five miles north of the Foxconn factory, though, is the Harley-Davidson headquarters in Milwaukee. The motorcycle manufacturer announced earlier this week it was moving some production to Europe as a result of new tariffs the European Union imposed on U.S.-made motorcycles.
The EU tariffs were in response to ones Trump imposed on EU shipments of steel and aluminum.
