President Obama publicly ignored the Democratic presidential debate, broadcast on CNN Tuesday night, choosing instead to tweet about baseball.

“Congrats Cubs – even White Sox fans are rooting for you!” he wrote on Twitter.

Obama is a White Sox fan but appears sympathetic to the only Chicago team in the playoffs.

That fulfills the White House preview of how Obama would spend the evening, as White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest suggested that the president would watch portions of the debate, but would “channel surf.”

“I don’t think that he will watch it wire to wire,” Earnest told reporters Tuesday afternoon. “There is some pretty good playoff baseball on tonight. So I would anticipate that he may be doing a little channel surfing.”

Obama remains publicly disengaged from the race, where his former Secretary of State has struggled in recent months after her combative response to her private email server.

His Vice President Joe Biden is still weighing whether or not he should enter the race.
