Wednesday at CNBC’s Republican presidential debate, Republican presidential candidate Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) got into a heated back and forth with the debate moderator John Harwood.
After Jeb Bush answered a question on fantasy football Christie said, “We are talking about getting government involved in fantasy football? Wait a second, we have $19 trillion in debt, we have people out of work, ISIS and Al Qaeda attacking us and we’re talking about fantasy football? Can we stop?…How about this, how about we get our government to do what they are supposed to be doing, secure our borders, protect our people and support the American values and American family. Enough on fantasy football. Let people play, who cares?”
When anchor John Harwood asked about climate change Christie said, “We don’t do what John Kerry, and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama want to do, which their solution is put more taxes on and they will fix it. there is no evidence they can fix anything in Washington, D.C.
Harwood interjected, “What we should we do.”
Christie said, “Invest in all types of energy,”
Harwood asked, “You mean government?”
Christie said, “No, John, Do you want me to answer or do you want to answer? Because I got to tell you the truth, even in New Jersey what you’re doing is called rude.”
He continued, “So — we laid out a national energy climate — I tell you, you could win a bet at a bar Tonight since we’re talking about fantasy football, you talk about the top three states, California, Arizona, they’re easy, but New Jersey, we work with the private sector to make solar energy affordable to individuals in our state.”
