Hillary Clinton Politicizes California Shooting as GOP Candidates Send Thoughts and Prayers

GOP presidential candidates took to social media to express their thoughts and prayers for the victims and first responders involved in the mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, on Wednesday. But the Democrat Party’s frontrunner Hillary Clinton took to Twitter to politicize the mass shooting.

Clinton posted on Twitter, “I refuse to accept this as normal. We must take action to stop gun violence now. -H”

According to the left-leaning website Mother Jones, Clinton was speaking about the need for gun control at a campaign event in Florida as the news was breaking about the mass shooting in California. While Clinton used the tragic shooting as a call for action, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump posted on Twitter, expressing his appreciation for law enforcement.

Eight other GOP candidates offered their prayers.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) also tweeted, sending prayers to those impacted: “Our prayers are with the victims, their families, and the first responders in San Bernardino who willingly go into harm’s way to save others.”

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush also posted about the victims and first responders, saying, “Praying for the victims, their families & the San Bernardino first responders in the wake of this tragic shooting.”

Dr. Ben Carson wrote, “My thoughts and prayers are with the shooting victims and their families in San Bernardino.”

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie also posted, “Praying for all those victimized by the shootings in San Bernardino, California today.”

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) tweeted, “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, families, and brave first responders during this unspeakable tragedy.”

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee posted, “Praying for those impacted by the shooting in California today.”

Ohio Gov. John Kasich tweeted, “My thoughts & prayers go out to those impacted by the shooting in San Bernardino, especially the first responders. -John”
