Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton is trying to downplay the possible religious motivations behind the San Bernardino, California, shooting in order to focus on pushing her gun control agenda in the aftermath of the tragedy.

“No matter what motivation these shooters had, we can say one thing for certain—they shouldn’t have been able to do this,” Clinton said in New Hampshire Thursday.

Clinton has yet to formally acknowledge the fact that shooting suspect Syed Farook was a devoted Muslim and that evidence is mounting that the mass shooting in California could have been motivated by Islamic terrorism.

Clinton is making the case to voters for her proposed “assault weapons” ban. Clinton is also a supporter of importing Syrian refugees to the United States. As Breitbart News reported, the State Department picked Farook’s town of Redlands, California, as a settlement site to put some of the refugees. Breitbart News has reached out to the State Department to figure out if the refugee plan in Redlands is still going forward.

Clinton has repeatedly refused to condemn radical Islam during the campaign, including in the days after the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris. The Democratic National Committee even put out an ad attacking Republican candidates for even suggesting that radical Islam is responsible for the pattern of continuous terror. The committee doubled down on its refugee policy Thursday and again attacked Republicans for supposed Islamaphobia.
