CLEVELAND, Ohio — Dr. Ben Carson’s wife Candy Carson emotionally discusses the four Americans who died in Benghazi under then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s watch.

During a “What Women Want” discussion last week at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio with a room full of female voters, Mrs. Carson said, “think about those soldiers in Benghazi. How many of us are mothers or sisters or wives? When I heard her say, ‘What difference does it make? — That did it for me.”

“I couldn’t believe one of our own is going to let — they knew someone was coming — because that’s what Americans do,” she added, getting emotional about no one being sent to help the men who were fighting for their lives for several hours that night. Clinton never sent reinforcement,” she added while discussing what women want to see in politics and the 2016 election between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

“As Americans, we always help each other,” Carson challenged.

Concerned Women for America’s CEO and President Penny Nance also joined the panel, hosted by Bass Public Affairs, and stressed not allowing gender to be the sole reason women are motivated to go to the polls for Clinton, who would become the first female President of the United States if she wins in November.

“We should be voting not just on something — gender — or anything else. We should be picking the best leader for our country,” Nance encouraged. “Regardless of gender, we have to have a leader who is going to help us move forward as a nation.”
