A woman alone in a home in Poulsbo, Washington, warned a home invasion suspect to stop then shot him twice when he continued to press into the residence.

The incident occurred Sunday just before 2 a.m.

According to KOMO News, “Authorities say [the homeowner] was by herself when the 28-year-old suspect tried to break in.” The woman said she heard a strange noise and retrieved her gun. She then moved toward the noise and found a suspect allegedly trying to enter the home.

The woman said she warned the suspect that she was armed, but he kept coming. Deputies say the woman opened fire from inside the home as the suspect was pushing his way in.

The suspect was shot in the chest and hand and was rushed to Tacoma General Hospital in critical condition.

Q13 Fox reports that the suspect never made it into the home.
