Black Friday 2017 shattered the single-day background check record by logging over 200,000 checks.

Breitbart News reported that Black Friday 2015 set a single-day record for background checks with 185,345 checks. One year later, Business Insider reported that “the FBI processed 185,713 background checks” on Black Friday 2016, setting a new record.

Now USA Today reports the FBI processed 203,086 background checks on Black Friday 2017. The magnitude of such a number of checks performed on one day is difficult to overstate.

Breitbart News previously reported:

May 2015 through November 2016 witnessed monthly background check records set during 15 months consecutively. In other words, May 2015 witnessed more background checks than any May on record, June 2015 witnessed more checks than any June on record, and July 2015 witnessed more checks, on through November 2016. In fact, there were so many checks conducted January 1, 2016, through November 30, 2016, that that 11-month period alone surpassed any previous entire calendar year for background checks.

The record ended the month after President Trump was elected and leftists seized the opportunity to claim Trump was actually bad for gun sales, that he had ushered in a “Trump Slump.” Then came August 2017 and the FBI reported 1,925,146 background checks were conducted in one month. The previous one-month record for August was 1,853,815, set in 2016. Moreover, Breitbart News reported FBI figures showing background checks for January 2017 through June 2017 were only surpassed by checks for the same time period in 2016.

The bottom line is that the left’s “Trump Slump” was not much of a slump. The new single record for background checks, set Black Friday 2017, is further proof of that.
