WATCH: Florida Sheriff Pledges ‘Designer Jewelry’ for Inmates (Consisting of ‘Handcuffs and Leg Irons’)

Florida’s Flagler County Sheriff’s Office renamed its detention facility the “Green Roof Inn,” promising inmates “designer jewelry” that consists of “handcuffs and leg irons.”

FCSO erected a sign listing numerous characteristics of the “Green Roof Inn,” and Sheriff Rick Staly used a Facebook post to explain the high points.

He stressed a lack a privacy, “group showers,” “no meal selection,” and “designer clothing,” in the way of a “color coordinated jumpsuit and shoes.” He made clear that the “Green Rook Inn” has a one star rating, and he added, “We’re working to lower that as we speak.”

At the end of the video, Sheriff Staly makes clear that his goal in describing the detention facility is to keep people being brought to it under arrest in the first place.

He concludes, “I hope you did not enjoy your stay at the Green Roof Inn. I don’t want you to come back. Don’t get arrested by a deputy again. Stay crime free. But if you must commit another crime, know that the light is on and we have a bed waiting for you.”
