At least two people were wounded and three killed after a woman opened fire at a Rite Aid distribution center in Aberdeen, Maryland, Thursday morning.

The shooting occurred just after 9:00 a.m. local time at the Rite Aid facility at which 1,000 people work, according to CBS News.

Police swarmed the area, and the situation remained “fluid” for some time, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office reported:

The lull between the shooting and confirmation on the suspect lasted until after 11:00 a.m. when MSNBC’s Pete Williams  announced that “the shooting suspect is a woman, and she is down.”

The identities of the suspect and shooting victims have not been released, nor has a motive been reported.

On June 28, 2018, Jarrod Ramos allegedly shot and killed five people at Annapolis’s Capital Gazette newspaper. Both the Annapolis shooting and Thursday’s incident in Aberdeen occurred despite the fact that Maryland has some of the most stringent gun control laws in the country, including firearm confiscation orders, which were adopted after the Parkland, Florida, high school shooting.
