Kansas Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Kris Kobach says Republicans must not “make compromises” when it comes to President Trump’s proposed border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

In an interview on SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Daily, Kobach told Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow that the time is long past due for Republicans in Congress to fight for a border wall, which he says is an “essential” element of the nation’s sovereignty.

Kobach said:

The notion that we won’t fund the wall yet we will spend hundreds of billions of dollars providing military assistance or other forms of economic assistance to other countries yet we won’t even deal with one of the most essential attributes of our own sovereignty, which is a border that we can control is just nonsense to me. [Emphasis added]

Of course, Republicans most of them, do want to fund the wall, but [Republicans] are not taking the hard-charging approach that you and I would advocate is and that is, no we don’t make compromises. We don’t say ‘Well, we’re going to fund the wall and there might be some disadvantages to that so we’ll give the Democrats an amnesty or we’ll give them some sort of open borders legislation that they want.’ [Emphasis added]

This should be a simple vote. Are we going to get this thing funded or not? And Republicans should be very insistent that this is not something you can put off for another two years or another four years. We need it now. We needed it 20 years ago. So it is frustrating that Republicans aren’t making the case more forcefully for this. [Emphasis added]

As Breitbart News Political Editor Matt Boyle exclusively reported, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy is introducing legislation that will fully fund a border wall along the southern border, as Trump has demanded.

The McCarthy legislation will provide more than $23 billion in funds to fully construct a U.S.-Mexico border wall and include “Kate’s Law” and the “No Sanctuary for Criminals Act” enforcement measures that specifically target ending sanctuary cities for illegal aliens and tougher penalties for illegal alien criminals.
