Police in Reno, Nevada, have determined a woman was justified in fatally shooting a suspect who allegedly tried to sexually assault her friend in the early morning hours of April 20, 2019.

The Reno Gazette Journal reports that two women were “walking across the Sierra Street bridge” when 29-year-old Josue Oconitrillo approached and allegedly attempted to sexually assault one of them. The women fought back and demanded he stop, but Oconitrillo allegedly continued to attempt the assault.

One of the women then drew a handgun and ordered Oconitrillo to stop.

2 News reports that Oconitrillo refused to heed the warning and was shot and fatally wounded. He died seven days later.
