The district attorney overseeing Overland Park, Kansas, says no charges will be brought against the Boost Mobile clerk who shot and killed an armed robber on June 10, 2019.

Breitbart News reported the robbery attempt, wherein Deshawn L. Brim brandished a gun, demanded products from the store, and jumped a counter to get the clerk. The clerk pulled his own gun and shot Brim, killing him.

41 Action News anchor Dia Wall tweeted:

On June 24, 2019, Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe made clear the clerk will face no charges.

The Shawnee Mission Post quoted Howe saying:

[Brim] entered the store armed with a handgun and proceeded to rob the store at gunpoint. At some point, the store clerk, fearing for his life and the life of his co-worker, produced a handgun. The robber was killed in the ensuing gun battle as he attempted to jump over the counter presumably to get at the clerk.

Howe added, “We have determined that this was a valid exercise of self defense under Kansas law. No charges will be filed in connection with this shooting.”
