Sen. Kamala Harris’s (D-CA) campaign responded to the remark Joe Biden (D) uttered to Harris during their pre-debate handshake with a single word: “Kid?”

When moderators introduced Harris on stage, she walked up to Biden and shook his hand. Thanks to a hot mic, the former vice president could be heard saying, “Go easy on me, kid.”:

The lighthearted remark previewed a contentious debate filled with clashes on hot topics between the two – from busing to health care plans.
