Spain’s socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez was once again called a “son of a b***h” by a group of fed-up Spaniards during his official visit to the town of Oliva, one of the worst affected by Storm Adam’s torrential rain.
Being called a “son of a b***h,” among other insults, has now become common occurrence for the highly-unpopular leader, with the latest taking place on Tuesday in Oliva after first being encountered earlier this month.
The Valencian town stands among the most affected by the DANA weather system Storm Adam, which caused the death of at least six confirmed persons — two in Oliva, an elderly woman who was unable to safely get out of her home in time when the residence was flooded, and a man who reportedly died of a heart attack at a flooded campground.
Veteran left-wing Sánchez, and his delegation, visited Oliva and declared a civil protection emergency status for the town and the rest of the affected Spanish municipalities.
However, rather than receive a warm welcome in the aftermath of the deadly storm, a mob of Spaniards peacefully gathered outside the Oliva Forward Command Post, awaiting for the prime minister’s arrival to call him a “son of a b***h,” and demand his immediate resignation.
Per the Spanish outlet The Objective, the majority of the protesters were young Spaniards bellow the age of 30, some of which yelled “Perro [dog] Sánchez to prison,” referring the “dog” nickname that many have used to criticize Sánchez.
The protesters also reportedly called for Sánchez to go “To prison like Maduro,” referencing the deposed socialist dictator of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, who was arrested by U.S. forces through a law enforcement operation in Caracas on January 3, 2026.
The crowd continued to protest against Sánchez as he and members of his cabinet of ministers entered the Forward Command Post to meet with local authorities to assess the situation in Oliva after the Storm Adam.
According to the regional newspaper Levante, the “Pedro Sanchez, son of a b***h” chant “leaked” into the building after a person inside the meeting room accidentally played a video on his or her telephone device of the protests outside the building.
Unnamed sources that were present in the meeting affirmed to the newspaper the person who played the video is part of the Valencian Consell regional cabinet.
After the emergency meeting, Sánchez reportedly affirmed that there has been a “good, coordinated response from all levels of government” in the aftermath of the storm — availing himself of the opportunity to stress upon what he described as the “climate variable” in prevention efforts and to not pretend that “the elephant in the room” of “climate change” does not exist.
To that end, Sánchez called for a “broad national consensus in the face of the climate emergency.”
