Penny Nance, president of Concerned Women of America, was a guest Wednesday on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily and spoke about the necessity for constitutional conservatives like herself who backed Ted Cruz to now support Donald Trump.

Nance, the author of Feisty and Feminine: A Rallying Cry for Conservative Women, endorsed Cruz in March and admitted it will be very difficult for constitutional conservatives who have been largely supportive of Cruz to vote for Trump.

“It’s hard,” she told SiriusXM host and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon. “It’s not going to happen overnight.”

“It takes time to shift gears because people who are not just political hacks have their heart in this,” Nance continued. “There are the members of the consultant class in D.C. who can within a day flip the switch from one person to another, but most people really believe in their candidate, and there’s been a number of people in this race that I’ve had a heart for and really felt like would be fantastic leaders and Donald Trump is not one of them.”

She added, “But I have no problem – because here’s the reality, folks, we only have two choices now. And maybe it will be Bernie, but I think it will be Hillary. But it’s Donald Trump or one or the other.”

Nancy rejected the idea of a third party candidate.

“As saddened as I am that my first choice didn’t win – or my second choice – it is what it is,” she acknowledged.

Two weeks ago, Nance and other conservative leaders criticized Trump for his confused statements about North Carolina’s new law protecting the privacy and safety of women and children in public rest rooms. Trump said the new law – which has drawn the ire of liberal supporters of the militant LGBT agenda – said North Carolina should “leave it the way it is” because the state suffered much economic hardship for standing up for safety and privacy.

“There have been very few complaints the way it is,” Trump said.

Privacy bills are common sense regulations that protect women and children,” Nance said in response to Trump’s statements. “Conservatives are not saying those who identify as transgender are committing sexual assault, but instead that these laws would allow sexual offenders to pose as transgender individuals to obtain entry into the bathroom of the opposite sex.”

“This is why conservatives are right to question Donald Trump’s judgment,” she said. “His instincts are wrong on our core values. He has spent his life surrounded by Manhattan elites who have never shopped in a Target. Of course he doesn’t understand the outrage. I don’t know if this will ultimately hurt him politically, but it should.”

Nance said, however, that a Hillary Clinton administration would be “devastating” for the country and present “lasting damage.”

Breitbart News Daily airs on SiriusXM Patriot 125 weekdays from 6:00AM to 9:00AM EST.
