WSJ: MILO Stirring Things Up On Campuses More Than Any Other Speaker

An article in the The Wall Street Journal entitled “Breitbart Writer’s Campus Tour Stirs Free-Speech Debate,” argues that MILO’s Dangerous Faggot Tour is “stirring a free speech debate” on America’s college campuses.

The article also takes note of the Dangerous Faggot’s huge social media presence, and his ability to provoke reactions.

The tour by Milo Yiannopoulos is sparking reaction from more groups than any recent speaker has on college campuses, heightening tensions between free speech and public safety.

He points toward his vast following on social media as evidence that he is saying what millions of others are thinking, and he calls condemnation from university leaders politically motivated.

“They wouldn’t be saying that if I had different politics,” Mr. Yiannopoulos said. “If it were a feminist comedian telling vindictive, spiteful, horrible jokes about white men, if it were a black comedian telling jokes about white people, if it were almost anyone else telling jokes about almost anyone else, they would have nothing to say.”

The speaking engagements have been generally sponsored by student Republican clubs on campus and sell out. Mr. Yiannopoulos said he doesn’t charge the organizations who invite him and instead is financed privately by Breitbart News and wealthy individuals. He claims among his benefactors A-list Hollywood actors, whom he declined to name.
