NAACP Rescinds Lifetime Achievement Award, Will Return Donations Made By Donald Sterling

After officially rescinding the lifetime achievement award Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was to receive next month, the Los Angeles’ NAACP said it will also return donations it has received from Sterling.

Leon Jenkins, the president of the Los Angeles chapter, made the announcement on Monday at a press conference, saying Sterling did not donate a “significant amount” of money.

Jenkins said he was not certain the voice on the recording was Sterling’s. TMZ released the recording on Saturday that has Sterling purportedly telling his girlfriend not to bring black people to his games.

The NAACP said it will not take back the humanitarian award the organization previously gave to Sterling.
