The University of Kentucky sports equipment staff announced that they just received the largest pair of basketball shoes they have ever ordered. The size-20 Nike sneakers are for 6’11” incoming freshman Wildcat Karl Anthony-Towns, who according to one kinesiologist could grow another three inches.
The 2014 Gatorade Player of the Year, nevertheless, has a ways to go to catch up to legend Shaquille O’Neal who wore a size 22 during his days as a dominant big man in the NBA. Today in the NBA twins Brooke and Brian Lopez don size 20s and former eight-time NBA all-star Bob Lanier wore 22s.
Yet, all of these guys may be out-footed by Brahim Takioullah. According to the Guinness World Records, the Moroccan is the second tallest man in the world at 8’1″ and is listed as having the world’s largest foot with a his left foot measuring fifteen inches long while his right foot is a quarter inch smaller. Guinness does not list his shoe size.
According to The Score, 5’5″ Earl Boykin, who last played for the Houston Rockets may have had the NBA’s smallest foot wearing only size 9 and a half. However, what may be the most astonishing of all foot facts is that former NBA player Brian Cardinal who last played for the Dallas Mavericks, has no toes at all. The Score reports that may be why he fell down a lot.
